August 23-24, 2008

Members of Troop 295 enjoyed a Saturday & Sunday camping at Cabrillo Youth Aquatic Park focused on completing their Canoeing Merit Badge and having a great deal of fun in the pool and around the ocean at Cabrillo Beach. Who knows, the Scouts may be thinking about planning a 50-mile trek down the Colorado River during Easter vacation to get their first 50-miler river patch and their first “River Rats Patch” not to mention the enjoyment of the 50 mile trek.
Stay tuned for more exciting action from Troop 295’s “Eagles Nest.”

Circle X at Big Horn was a big Hit Aug 2008

Twenty-Two Scouts and four adults went to the Circle X at Big Horn camp. It is approx. 2 hours away near Lake Arrowhead. Everyone had a great time and earned a lot of badges. This is a really old camp but it was refurbished approx. two years ago. Most of the buildings are very new and up to date. Some of the activities included shotguns, 22 caliber rifles, archery, swimming, wilderness survival, first aid, basket weaving, canoeing, kayaking, and many others. There were six activity periods and you could pick which Merit badges you wanted to earn. Most boys even earned their polar bear patch by getting up at 7am and braved the cold water of the pool, hoses and crawling through ice. This camp was the highlight of the year as the boys camped for a whole week, earned a lot of badges, had fellowship with each other and the leaders. Everyone needs to go to summer camp. Thank you Mr. Rudy for leading this camp to its successful outing.
